Cylinder Recycling

Compressed gas cylinders that are no longer fit for service pose substantial safety and environmental risks:

  • "Improper handling [and disposition] can result in injury or death and damage to property or the surrounding environment." (CGA P-22, pg. 6)
  • "Recovery and recycling of materials are preferred over other methods of disposition." (CGA P-22, pg. 9)
  • "It is recommended that the actual disposal procedure be performed only by knowledgeable persons familiar with all applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws and regulations." (CGA P-22, pg. 10)

MAWA Inc. will accept customer-owned cylinders of known contents for recycling. MAWA Inc. will follow the proper procedures for removing the residual contents from the cylinder and decommissioning the cylinder—rendering the cylinder unusable. Once the cylinder is decommissioned, it will be recycled as scrap metal.
